OK OK...

I am still running. It's just been a while since I have posted. About 3 weeks ago my grandpa died and I guess I just didn't feel like getting out there to run. I guess a combination of his death and a bad cold kept me in for a week and a half. We joined the new YMCA though. I am doing most of my running there now. I am up to 4.25 miles without much of a problem. I am not at marathon speed yet. It took me 45 minutes but I'll get there. I am having fun. I'm giving myself small goals to accomplish too keep me motivated. I wanted to run 4 miles by yesterday and I did it! So that was fun. Well, the plan is 2 miles today as a recovery and Saturday I will try for 5!!!!

Run #2

I did the same corse again because I liked it so much. It is a little over 2 miles. I was so excited when I drove it to figure out the distance. I couldn't believe that I could run the 2 miles without stopping. I felt almost as good as I did on my first run but the night before the second run, I had a margarita. It did not sit well. The day after my first run I got a massage and it worked out a few kinks in my back and hips that were bugging me. I waited two days between runs and I think that was good for me. I will run again tomorrow and try to stay as healthy as I can at the Kenny Chesney concert tonight. I did a little yoga this morning and it hurt! Yesterday there was something seriously wrong with me. I started by hitting my head on a low wall in the storage closet of our house; which resulted in a big goose egg on the back of my head. That hurt. Then when we were on our way to the park the kids kicked a ball and I tried to stop it from going into a rain channel but slipped and fell on my tail bone. I caught myself with my hands so my arms are hurting now too. I tried to play it off like it didn't hurt at the time but I was seriously in pain.
Oh well, I guess you have to have an off day every now and then.
Well, I am looking forward to my run tomorrow. I might try to extend my course a little if my injuries are feeling any better.
Off to the concert with our good friends The Moore's.

run #1

Hi. I went on my first run this morning. I felt really good. I don't know how far yet but I ran for a good half hour without stopping. My knees and hips were pretty stiff and sore toward the end but had they not started to hurt I would probably still be running. I guess that means I am in decent cardiovascular shape but my joints have to get used to pounding the pavement again.

Marawhat????

I have always had a goal in my life to run a marathon. I honestly don't think I could run one full mile without stopping at the moment but I plan on making it all the way to 26 in 9 months. I was reading all about how to train, the do's and don'ts etc. One of the things I read was to tell people. That goes against everything in me because if I fail at this I don't want people to know. But here I am. I am going to train for a marathon. Now you know. I am doing this in blog format so that the people who want to know about my progress can check in and those who don't care don't have to hear about it. This will help me to stay motivated. I will continue to report on my progress, ups and downs, and anything else that comes my way. Take care.
